Here I have gone and thought through about how to add science to a reading block. For most younger grades science does not have its own portioned time out of the day. Thus, it is critical for us as educators to be able to add it elsewhere. You can see though my plan that having students use science words and techniques during reading centers is one way to add it in. My plan here supports and shows how I am planning on instruction. Planning to add missing links where they are needed and building a way to get all the standards meet. If there is not a time chunk for science, I need to be able to get creative and think of ways to add it elsewhere so students can still get what they need. A key component to make sure the class can flow is to make sure to have procedures built. A part of my plan to be able to instruct and have a working classroom environment is to create SOPs with students. These need to be the focus for the first few weeks and if they are struggling to follow or understand one of them, then more time needs to be spent explaining and practice them.
