Link to assignment in reference: IEP Meeting
This assignment gave the opportunity for us to work withy each other in our professional educational roles. I took the part of being the special education teacher and case manager. We took the information we were given on the student, and had to create an IEP for them. From there we needed to assess past goals, look at data, and come up with new goals for the students. As a team we contacted the parents and set up a time to meet over zoom with them. During our zoom meeting I took the lead role of introductions and managing our way through the document as the special education teacher.
This was a great opportunity to be able to communicate and collaborate with a professional team, and parents of students. We were able to come together as a team and plan an IEP meeting, and then once with the parents able to work with them as also. When working with the parents and collaborating with them we made sure to focus on their concerns as well as the important information we needed to talk about. As a professional team we worked to support each others statements and data as well as answering any of the parents questions that were fired at us. Overall this was a great experience to be able to expand our communication and collaboration skills with both a professional group and caregivers of students.
