During our time in EDU 373 we worked very closely with partners in class and created curriculum for students in the Blast program. As groups we received a group of first graders who needed extra support with their math skills. We had to come together to create a pre assessment, as well as analyze data to split them into smaller groups. With these smaller groups partners worked to create engaging math lessons each week to help improve the students math skills. Then after working with them for six lessons, we did a post assessment. This post assessment provided data on how the students received the lesson. From there we analyzed each lesson and all the data we collected to round it off in a final project.

When working on creating lesson plans and trying to engage the students we were working with, we also were focused on the learner development. Learner development was the driving factor behind everything that we were doing. My partner and I had worked to provide these students with different tools to use when completing math problems. Along with this we also were collecting and observing data each week to see their progress and determine when we would move on. Though our overall learning progression did not take a huge leap, the content and base knowledge the students have is amazing. Looking at where they were when we started and where the data shows them now is why we need to slow down and build the base with them. A strong addition and subtraction knowledge is the base to all future math they will contact.
